Primary School

Welcome to Our Cambridge Primary Programme at Oxford:

At our school, the Cambridge Primary Programme (KS2) sets young learners on an exciting educational journey, nurturing them into confident, responsible, reflective, innovative, and engaged individuals. Designed for students aged 5 to 11 years, this internationally recognized curriculum provides a broad and balanced education, equipping children with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in school, work, and life.

With 12 subjects, including core areas like English, Mathematics, and Science, our primary programme builds strong academic foundations while fostering creativity, self-expression, and personal well-being. Thanks to our dedicated teachers, we create engaging and dynamic learning experiences, ensuring that every child develops a love for learning and the ability to thrive in their future education and beyond.

The 12 subjects are:

Art:

At our school, Art is more than just a subject—it’s a platform for self-expression, creativity, and imagination. Our teacher encourages students to explore their ideas, push boundaries, and develop essential skills that extend beyond the classroom.

Through engaging activities, young learners become reflective and critical thinkers, learning to articulate their personal responses to experiences and artistic creations. This journey not only nurtures their creativity but also enhances their confidence and problem-solving abilities, supporting them across all areas of their education and personal growth.

This programme not only enhances academic learning but also prepares students to navigate an ever-changing world with confidence and open-mindedness.

Computing

The Computing curriculum helps learners find out how computers work. This stimulating course gives students the opportunity to look inside a computer to understand the purpose of different components. They will also develop coding and logical thinking skills on visual

programming languages, such as Scratch, and learn that computers can only perform

actions that humans ask them to do.

Drama at our school offers students a creative outlet to express themselves, explore different characters, and develop confidence. Through activities like role-playing and improvisation, script writing, students enhance their communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills. Drama also encourages emotional intelligence, allowing learners to connect with others and gain a deeper understanding of the world around them. By engaging in drama, students build creativity, teamwork, and self-expression—skills they will carry with them throughout their education and beyond.

Through music, students develop a lifelong appreciation for the arts and expand their ability to express

Physical Education

Physical Education is a vital part of our balanced school curriculum. Regular exercise improves both physical and mental health, and there is growing evidence that it boosts academic performance across all subjects. By establishing good patterns of exercise in primary school, we provide learners with the foundation for an active and healthy lifestyle that will benefit them throughout their lives. Students actively participate in school competitions and events such as Sports Day, where they can showcase their skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Through PE, learners not only develop their fitness but also their confidence and ability to work collaboratively in a fun, supportive environment.

Teaching methods

At our school, we prioritize two key teaching methods to ensure a well-rounded education for every student: differentiation and project-based learning.
Through differentiation, we aim to provide a tailored educational experience where students of all levels have equal opportunities to learn and progress. By adjusting instruction to meet the diverse needs, interests, and abilities of each student, we ensure that everyone is challenged and supported in their learning journey.
In addition, we embrace project-based learning as a way to think outside the box and move away from conventional assessment methods. This approach allows students to engage in creative, hands-on projects that not only unleash their imagination but also give those who may struggle with traditional written exams the chance to showcase their talents and strengths in different areas.
These methods together create a dynamic and inclusive learning environment that fosters growth for all learners.

Extracurricular activities

At Oxford International School of Tunis, we offer a variety of extracurricular activities that enrich our students’ learning experiences and contribute to their personal development.

One of the highlights is our educational trips, which provide students with the opportunity to see theoretical concepts come to life in real-world settings. These trips help bridge the gap between theory and practice, allowing students to make meaningful connections to what they have learned in the classroom.

Our weekly assemblies are another key aspect of student life, where we focus on relevant topics that resonate with students’ lives, encouraging them to engage with subjects they can relate to. Sometimes, these assemblies are centered around leadership lessons, helping students build valuable skills for the future.

We also offer a diverse range of clubs, including robotics, music, and art, providing students with opportunities to discover their passions, enhance their skills, and express their creativity. These clubs foster collaboration, innovation, and personal growth, allowing students to engage in hands-on learning beyond the traditional classroom setting.

We also organize events that foster a sense of community and social life among students, while simultaneously teaching them important life skills. These events often involve parents, allowing them to become more engaged in their child’s educational journey and strengthening the bond between families and the school.
